This heritage bungalow interior renovation came to us as a conservation project where we strived to retain its original spirit and aesthetic while subtly adding new and removing or modifying the existing elements to keep up with the times.
The project commenced with civil, waterproofing and electrical repairs along with the restoration of the original wall tiling in certain spaces and redoing the overall stone flooring polish.
The old weathered external fenestration such as the main door, certain windows & door frames , safety grills etc. were replaced with modern ones while trying to be in sync with original facade treatment.
Furniture pieces such as the shoe-unit with a seat planted within a niche created in the foyer, a tv console and a wardrobe in the passage were added while being sensitive to the existing antique wooden furniture. The use of cane and polish in the new furniture designs gives a ‘retro look and feel’ while blending in.
Furthermore, new light fixtures and a fresh color scheme in varying tones of grays in contrast to the woody brown color, tie up the spaces together in harmony.
