This being an ancestral home nestled among green fields, was often frequented by the city based owner for managing his farms where he actively cultivates grains, fruits and vegetables. The site is surrounded with fields on all sides with only a dirt road for access. Originally the farmhouse and the adjacent shed sat on the plot which was completely open without any fencing making it vulnerable from predators and undesired human intervention.
Site infrastructure such as the compound wall with gate, driveway and overall landscaping was incorporated to make the plot a secured zone from the external weather elements and wildlife. Covered otla or verandah near the entrance porch and the back-yard are created with tiled levels to make them usable, functional spaces for various household activities. Interior utilities such as the bathrooms and kitchen are upgraded to meet modern day urban sensibilities and usage. Locally sourced materials and construction techniques were utilized in tandem with the local labor.
The makeover has made this close to nature home, a safer and a more usable space for the owner and his family, who can now plan frequent and longer stays in the farmhouse for both farming and recreation purposes.
